Prior to OCR recognition the application employs dynamic threshold technology to automatically adjust contrast when converting grayscale and color document images to black and white to provide better recognition results.

FineReader reads 1-D and 2-D barcodes including newly added 2 barcode types - Aztec Code and Data Matrix.

The program allows users to specify document’s “print type” and then applies this type to the entire document, selected blocks, or table cells for best recognition result.
